My fourth visit to RG will probably surface in TRAVEL at a later date, so for now a round up of yesterday’s action
WOMEN
Serena’s return and that catsuit was always going to be the big story (a good comeback test as it turned out). But Sharapova came through a battle of her own in fine style whilst Muguruza looked very strong against a dangerous unseeded Kuznetsova.
Kerber, Stosur, Garcia, Bertens, Barty and Goerges (Julia) all looked good too, if not quite showing title-winning form.
MEN
The loss of Jack Sock aside, the men’s results went as expected. Nadal was given a stern examination by Bollelli in that third set hangover from Monday, and it was no surprise when Mahut gave DelPo a few issues early on.
Elsewhere though it was plain sailing for Cilic, Shapovalov, Isner, Anderson, Fognini and Britain’s Kyle Edmund, cementing his reputation as anything but a stop-gap during Sir Andy’s absence.
Day 4 summary tonight.
